History of Buffalo Springs National Reserve

Established in 1948 as part of the larger Samburu-Isiolo Game Reserve, Buffalo Springs gained its independence as a distinct reserve in the 1960s. Named after a natural spring created during World War II, when an Italian bomb uncovered underground water, the spring remains a crucial water source for both wildlife and humans in the area.
